Mitt Romney ® Backs Out Of The Donald’s Circus
“GOP presidential candidateMitt Romney
has decided not to participate in The Newsmax ION Presidential Debate
scheduled for December 27th in Des Moines, Iowa which will be moderated
by business tycoon, and reality TV celebrityDonald Trump.
Appearing
a short time ago on FOX News, Romney told anchor Neil Cavuto that he
chose against the event because there were already two debates in Iowa
this month and he wanted to spend the rest of the time before the
primaries campaigning and " doing work you have to do."
Romney said he called Trump to inform him of his decision.
" He understood my perspective and wished me well, " Romney said.
Amongst the rest of the GOP presidential field, Iowa front-runnerNewt Gingrich, andRick Santorum have both said they will participate whileRon Paul, and John Huntsman have also rejected the offer.
"
Trump called Michele this morning. We have not confirmed the debate,"
Bachmann Campaign spokeswoman Alice Stewart said to FOX.”
Dell
Says: To be brutally honest, who cares? Donald Trump? The
candidates? Newsmax? Well, I’m sure they care because the entire
program might very well “go away” now that Mitt has bowed out.
It’s
my humble opinion that the “debate a week” thing has long-since
overstayed its welcome. We could have lived quite nicely without half
of the “made for TV ratings” debates that have been held thus far. If
this one goes away, that’s a good thing.

The
Dems are up in arms - lead by Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) - over the
filibuster of Obama nominee, Caitlin Halligan, to become the next
appeals court judge in Washington, D.C.
“LikeGuy Benson,
I’m not a fan of filibusters on judicial nominees. Elections have
consequences, and among them are the ability to appoint people to the
federal bench. Instead of spending time rallying for filibusters on
judicial appointments, political activists should spend their time
defeating their opponents in presidential races. On the other hand, I’m
not going to cry overthe loss of Caitlin Halligan to the DC Appellate Court, nor join in the outrage from the party that invented Borking:
Senate
Republicans on Tuesday filibustered President Barack Obama’s nomination
of Caitlin Halligan for the U.S. Court of Appeals, prompting Democrats
to denounce the move as setting “a new standard” for confirming judicial
nominees.
Republicans cited Halligan’s controversial stance on gun laws as a reason for their opposition.
“The
new standard applied by Senate Republicans to nominations to the D.C.
Circuit will make it nearly impossible for nominees of any president to
be confirmed to this important court,” said Senate Judiciary Committee
Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), who before the vote made the case that
Halligan had broad support and experience in both the public and private
sector, said after the vote.
A
former New York state solicitor general, Halligan “is the kind of
nominee we should all welcome to public service,” Leahy added. “This
filibuster is a disservice to the federal judiciary, and to the millions
of Americans it serves.”
Yeah … kind of like Miguel Estrada, huh? Remember thebasis for the filibuster led by Leahy and Ted Kennedy on that nomination?

President
Obumbledork may be headed for Hawaii on the 37th leg of his on-going
vacation, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be thinking about him; giving
many hours of thought to his well-crafted words to the world about his
fellow countrymen, while his wife spends enough taxpayer money to keep
the 7th Fleet in operation for a year.
While
he’s enjoying the native Hawaiian cuisine, we’ll be forcing down a Big
Mac and fries, along with a heaping platter of snark. “It’s Amazing. Every day I look in this mirror and see lazy Americans” “President Obama
has always been able to open up better when speaking in foreign
nations, because they … get … him. I think we Americans have always
been a little standoffish with him, as we just don’t relate to him very
well, so you can understand his being more comfortable in an
international setting. So while speaking to CEOs at the annual
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings, he said that American
businesses have “been a little bit lazy over the last couple of
decades.” And this isn’t the first time he’s criticized American
businesses, as last September he said that our country “had gotten a
little soft” over the last couple of decades.
Now,
I know the typical reaction here is to get all angry and point your
chubby finger back at him and say that while he’s calling us lazy it
seems like he’s on the golf course half the time, but that’s just
kneejerk and stupid. If we were smart, we’d consider this criticism
instead of continuing to blame Obama for what’s wrong with our economy.
Maybe it’s time for us to really take a look at ourselves and ask: Is
Obama actually a great president, and we’re just a lousy country?
It’s
not really that radical a question. I mean, look at him: He’s a
bright, Harvard-educated man who’s not only been to other countries but
has actually lived in them — he knows cultures and viewpoints beyond the
narrow ones we have here. And he surrounds himself with the greatest
minds on earth. And who are we, compared to him? We’re a bunch of
slobs, really. Kind of ignorant. Maybe a little racist. And we
surround ourselves with bowls of flavored corn chips. But the country’s
problems are supposed to be his fault? Does that make sense?
Look
at what Obama did to try and get our economy going. He had this big,
hundreds of billions of dollars stimulus that was designed by all the
great economists who work in his administration — the top minds. It
should have worked. The economy should be roaring right now and
unemployment a thing of the past. America should be a utopia. So what
was missing from the equation? That the people the stimulus was used on
are a bunch of lazy dimwits. Obama did everything he possibly could,
but apparently Americans just aren’t very good at running businesses and
creating jobs. Obama has given us so many advantages that even
chimpanzees should have been able to create jobs, but we just sit there
like useless blobs while our companies crumble around us. We’re failing
the country. We’re failing him.”
“Someone needs to tell Carl Rove that his time has come and gone. If we want his advice, we’ll ask for it.”

How
- or even why - the person involved in moderating a political debate
becomes “news” is beyond me. But that’s the case today, as Carl Rove
wades in with his opinion that the Republican National Committee should
strongly urge all candidates to avoid the debate that has Donald Trump
as its moderator.
Watch Rove’s blathering and then I’ll tell you why he feels this way.
It’s all about political POWER, my friends.
Carl
Rove has held an enormous amount of political power for many
years...and now it’s slipping away. Rove has an ego the size of Texas
and his influence is seen as waning. That’s exactly why he’s spoken out
against Sarah Palin. And that’s exactly why he’s speaking out now
against Donald Trump. They are both seen as threats to his political
influence and he can’t bear to see that happen.
As
long as Carl Rove has his Fox News soapbox, he’s going to attempt to
influence anything and everything the Republican party does. In the
process, the TEA party (most especially) and the conservative political
movement will suffer. Rove will drive a wedge into the process to keep
the conservatives from overtaking the moderate Republicans every chance
he gets.
Remember,
it was Carl Rove who pulled all of the strings when George W. Bush was
President and the man refuses to let go of those strings! Bush
constantly cited Rove as the mastermind of his administration and
political career and, now that Bush is gone, Rove feels entitled to
continue calling the shots.
Someone needs to tell Carl Rove that his time has come and gone. If we want his advice, we’ll ask for it.
One convict will think twice before attempting to mug anyone again. The Chicago Sun-Timesreports
that 24-year-old Anthony Miranda allegedly pulled a gun on a driver in a
parked car on the Southwest Side of Chicago Friday night demanding
money, but only received two black eyes and a gunshot wound to the
ankle. The would-be victim was an MMA fighter. Sun-Times reports on the
Cook County thug who now faces charges of armed robbery and aggravated
discharge of a firearm, a Class X felony:
“After getting some money, he ordered the driver out of the car, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
At some point, Miranda’s attention was diverted and the victim was able to grab control of the gun and the two wrestled.
During the fight, Miranda accidentally discharged his gun, shooting himself in the ankle, Mirabelli said.
The
victim, who told police he’s a martial arts expert and ultimate
fighting champion was able to pin Miranda down until police arrived.
Police arrived to find Miranda with a face full of cuts and two black eyes.
Miranda had originally asked the man, whose name the police have yet not released, for a lighter.
Fox Chicago reportsthat
Miranda has had several convictions in the past, including at least one
for a residential burglary. The 24-year-old was taken to the hospital
Friday night and ordered held on $350,000 bond Sunday.
