For
many, 2011 was not a very good year. But, in experiencing difficult
years, we learn to better appreciate the very good years, and it’s my
fervent hope and prayer that 2012 brings you good health and great
happiness - the very best year ever!
I Offer You This Toast To Bring In The New Year
May your home always be too small To hold all of your friends.
May you live as long as you want And never want as long as you live.
May the good Lord take a liking to you, But not too soon.
May you have warm words on a cold evening, A full moon on a dark night, And the road downhill all the way to your door.
May your neighbors respect you, Trouble neglect you, The angels protect you, and heaven accept you.
Dance as if no one were watching, Sing as if no one were listening And live every day as if it were your last.
The Spectacular New Year’s Fireworks Display In Sydney, Australia!
The
final day of 2011 brings some possible good news for rectifying that
horrible primary mess in Virginia. Doug Powers, writing at Michelle
Malkin’s blog, has that story covered like a rug.
“Possiblegood news for any GOP candidates not named Mitt Romney or Ron Paul that might still be in the running by the time March rolls around:
Virginia
Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli is intervening in the Virginia
presidential primary dispute and plans to file emergency legislation to
address the inability of most Republican presidential candidates to get
their name on the ballot, Fox News has learned. Only Mitt Romney and Ron Paul qualified for the Virginia primary, a contest with 49 delegates up for grabs.
The
failure of other candidates to qualify — notably Newt Gingrich and Rick
Perry — led to complaints that the 10,000-signature requirement is too
stringent.
Cuccinelli, who is a Republican, shared the concerns.
“Recent
events have underscored that our system is deficient,” he said in a
statement. “Virginia owes her citizens a better process. We can do it in
time for the March primary if we resolve to do so quickly.”
[...]
Sources told Fox News that Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell is expected to support the emergency legislation as well.
As we talked about a few days ago concerning theRick Perry lawsuit, changes would have to take placequickly:
Section
24.612 of the Virginia State Code says: “The electoral board shall make
printed ballots available for absentee voting not later than 45 days
prior to any election.”
That means absentee ballots must be mailed to voters – such as Virginians serving in the military — no later than Jan. 21.
The
legislature does not convene until Jan. 11. To make the change,
lawmakers would have to pass emergency legislation — a bill that goes
into effect immediately upon the governor’s signature, rather than on
the customary enactment date of July 1.”
The
votes are in. The anxious nominees' fingernails have been chewed down
to the quick. And at least one blogger just excused himself to go to
the bathroom (number two, apparently).
So
we're more than pleased to announce the winners of the 2011 Fabulous 50
Blog Awards, the most prestigious new media awards in the conservative
blogosphere. Or, at the very least, in the 993 area code.
These
awards recognize a variety of blogs and websites operating in the
conservative hemisphere of the Internet, all of which have worked
tirelessly to protect America from Statism -- some in very unique ways.
So, without further ado, may I have the envelopes, please?
The Flight That Made Captain “Sully” Sullenberger The ‘Hero Of The Hudson’
By Dell Hill
Must see graphic video here.
This
graphic was created using the “black box” data from US Airways flight
1549 as it departed New York’s Laguardia Airport and sustained total
loss of power in both jet engines caused by a bird strike shortly after
takeoff.
The flight that made Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger a household name and “The Hero Of The Hudson”.
What’s that old saying? “Into each life some rain must fall”? Yes, that’s the one. And some rain is trying to fall.
A
couple of days ago I felt an extremely sharp pain in my lower left
side...right where my kidney is located. It was a pain I recognize all
too well. I do believe a fairly large kidney stone decided it was time
to ‘occupy’ somewhere else and moved. And anyone who has ever
experienced kidney stones knows exactly what I’m talking about. It
hurts like you wouldn’t believe.
No
bleeding so far; that’s a good thing, because stones are very sharp and
cut like crazy when they move. The pain ranks an 11 on a scale of 1 to
10.
I
speak from experience. This would be my sixth one that required short
term hospitalization and a process known as lithotripsy to blast the
stone into small particles “for easy disposal”.
Should
that be the case; it will happen on short notice, so if you see nothing
new posted here for more than 24 hours, you can probably assume that
I’m having that procedure done.
Not to worry. I’m a tough old buzzard and another kidney stone won’t hold me down for long.
