Saints vs 49s & Broncos vs Patriots Tonight

Jim Hoft - The Gateway Pundit - Has This Posted Prominently.

Tim Tebow – Born a Preacher

The Tim Tebow Story–

More than 24 years ago, Pam and her husband Bob were serving as missionaries in the Philippines and praying for a fifth child. Pam contracted amoebic dysentery, an infection of the intestine caused by a parasite found in contaminated food or drink.  She went into a coma and was treated with strong antibiotics before they discovered she was pregnant.  Doctors suggested that she consid…er aborting t…he baby for her own safety and told her that the medicines had caused irreversible damage to her baby.  She refused the abortion and cited her Christian faith as the reason for her hope that her son would be born without the devastating disabilities physicians predicted.

While pregnant, Pam nearly lost their baby four times but refused to consider abortion.  She recalled making a pledge to God with her husband: If you will give us a son, we’ll name him Timothy and we’ll make him a preacher.

Pam ultimately spent the last two months of her pregnancy in bed and eventually gave birth to a healthy baby boy August 14, 1987.  Pam’s youngest son is indeed a preacher.  He preaches in prisons, makes hospital visits, and serves with his father’s ministry in the Philippines.  He also plays football. Pam’s son is Tim Tebow.

Broncos vs. Patriots
Tonight following the Saints and 49er’s

Dell’s Bottom Line:

As usual, the Broncos will be decided underdogs tonight when they play the Patriots at Foxboro, Massachusetts.  The Broncos are always the underdog, but have found a way to keep the score close and then pull out victories as the clock ticks down to end the game.

Tebow usually gets all of the credit, but he’d be the first one to tell you that the Broncos are a good team and it’s that teamwork that has led to the big-game wins, not any individual performer.

The forecast for cold and very windy conditions is certainly not conducive to the passing game in football, so we really shouldn't expect either Tim Tebow or Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady to be airing it out.  The kicking game will also be similarly affected.

One thing that I’m absolutely sure of - tonight we’ll see one team win a football game.  The other team will lose a football game.  The outcome will have NO affect what-so-ever on the faith in God that any or all of the individual players have or don’t have!  In victory or defeat, each will thank God, in his own way, for their blessings.  And that’s as it should be.

Many of tonight’s players - including Tim Tebow - will praise the Lord God Almighty.  Perhaps we would be wise to join them.

God Bless America!

Daytona 500 Testing Underway

Daytona 500 Testing Underway

2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Season Starts February 26th

By Dell Hill

It seems like only yesterday that Tony Stewart was celebrating his 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship, but here we are in January and that means Daytona testing is underway, prior to the Daytona 500 on Sunday, Feb. 26 and the start of the 2012 season!

Testing has actually been taking place for a couple of days, and you can find up-to-the-minute speed charts by clicking on this safe link.  Scroll down a bit for the speed charts.

That link takes you to one of the best NASCAR reporting sites - Jayski’s.com.

The Saturday morning speeds show that Hendrick Motorsports is ready!  All four of the Hendrick teams were among the fastest, with Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne showing the way (201.545 mph average speeds).  Danica Patrick also had a good morning test run, posting a speed of 192.029 mph lap on the 2.5 mile tri-oval at Daytona.

Danica Patrick (L) Will Drive The Go Daddy Sponsored Cup Car For Defending Cup Champion - Tony Stewart.

Afternoon test speeds are expected to climb even higher as the teams will be allowed to draft.

There are some rule changes to note the start of the 2012 season.  For instance:

The new rules package includes:

· Smaller radiators
 Maximum of 2 gallon capacity

· Smaller overflow tank
 Maximum capacity of ½ gallon

· Radiator inlet is moved up closer into the front center bumper area

· Rate reduction in the springs  softer springs

· Smaller rear spoiler

· Base line restrictor plate of 29/32 inch (1/64 inch larger than plate size for the 2011 Daytona 500)

The increased Daytona restrictor plate size is reported to produce about 25 more horse-power, and the speed charts tend to bear that out, but don’t be surprised if the plate size is adjusted yet again prior to the 500.  NASCAR is conducting tests to keep the car speeds “around 200 mph”.

As reader interest dictates, I’ll be posting on the Cup racing season, so I hope you’ll stay tuned for that.

Is Boehner Snuggling Up To Obama On Payroll Tax Cuts??

Is Boehner Snuggling Up To Obama On Payroll Tax Cuts??

“House Speaker John Boehner, hoping to spare fellow Republicans a second embarrassing defeat over payroll tax cuts, is prepared to navigate around rebellious Tea Party-aligned lawmakers to get a deal, according to congressional aides.”

By Dell Hill

If the following report from The Chicago Tribune comes to pass, Mr. John Boehner could possibly be looking at a challenge to his position as House Speaker.

Perhaps Someone With A Spine Should Wield The Gavel?

“House Speaker John Boehner, hoping to spare fellow Republicans a second embarrassing defeat over payroll tax cuts, is prepared to navigate around rebellious Tea Party-aligned lawmakers to get a deal, according to congressional aides.

Republicans in the House of Representatives got a public drubbing from critics within and outside the party in December for initially refusing to approve a Senate plan to extend the tax break for 160 million Americans through February.

The party of lower taxes was left on the defensive, countering a barrage of criticism that its unwillingness to compromise threatened an effective tax hike on workers, potentially damaging the fragile economic recovery.

Now, with Democratic and Republican negotiators preparing for a new round of talks in the coming days to extend the payroll tax cut for the rest of the year, Republican leaders are anxious to move quickly to get a deal, aides said.

Party leaders fear another battle could distract from the more important task at hand - ousting President Barack Obama from the White House and winning majority control of the Senate in the November elections.  They also want to neutralize an issue that Democrats already are using to their advantage in the presidential and congressional campaigns.

Boehner's office would not comment on possible divisions among Republicans in the upcoming debate over the payroll tax cut or tactics to get a bill passed.  But one House Republican leadership aide told Reuters: "I think Boehner will seek a more accommodating approach to get a good percentage of Democrats to vote for it - even if it costs him a lot of House Republican freshmen."

"His instincts will be not to be so reliant on House Republican freshmen," the aide added, referring to the 85 first-term congressmen.

The freshmen, many of whom are aligned with the populist budget-slashing Tea Party movement, helped the Republican Party win control of the House in 2010 and have since proven stubbornly uncompromising in the debate over taxes and spending.

Congress has until February 29 to agree on extending the tax cut, which would give the average middle-class family about $1,000 extra a year.

Support has always been soft among Republicans for the payroll tax cut championed by Obama.  They question its effectiveness in stimulating the economy and the wisdom of using revenues intended for the Social Security retirement program.”

Dell’s Bottom Line:

Considering the source of the “news”, I’d consider this just one more attempt from the left to tell American voters just how awful those darned TEA baggers really are.

However, on the off chance this report proves accurate, House Speaker John Boehner would undoubtedly be out on his rear.  Not his “ear”.  His “rear”.  Right out the door, do not pass “Go”, do not take the gavel with you.  Find a comfy seat on the back bench.

TEA Party Conservatives got out the vote and helped the Republicans to a record breaking mid-term avalanche of representatives and senators.  Those “darned TEA baggers” were elected to do as their constituents told them.  And certainly nothing less than what their constituents told them to do.  If Speaker Boehner decides to cobble together a back-room deal with Obama that would effectively shut the House conservatives out, there are people standing by, ready and willing to assume the role of Speaker of the House.

I suspect that Eric Cantor and Allen West - among others - would be more than happy to escort Mr. Boehner to the back bench, where he can commiserate with Nancy Pelosi.

Elderly ‘Mod’ Invades Richmond, Virginia!

Elderly ‘Mod’ Invades Richmond, Virginia!

By Dell Hill

This will probably come as quite a shock to most of you.

Aside from music, sports, meteorology, radio, writing and enjoying the great outdoors, I’m a very big fan of North American Bald Eagles.  Stunner, right?  I know.  Not really a revelation.

In fact, those who pay close attention are aware that I was invited to serve as a moderator in the Raptor Resource Project sponsored Decorah Eagles chat room during the last nesting season.  My user name there was “GoldenEagle4444”.  “GE” for short.

This season I’ll be serving in a similar capacity with a brand new family of bald eagles near Richmond, Virginia, sponsored by the Center for Conservation Biology - a research group within the College of William and Mary and the Virginia Commonwealth University.

CCB is currently conducting the largest eagle tracking study in the world focused on understanding eagle spatial ecology and how eagles interact with human-made hazards.

The chat room can be reached online by clicking right here.  Camera testing and other technical aspects surrounding this event are underway.  Watch for an announcement as to when the chat room and streaming video goes “live”, very soon!

Note:  In order to join in the chat, a simple registration is required by Ustream.  It’s free, of course, and I hope you’ll stop in and say “Howdy”.

This pair of eagles is located along the James River in Richmond Virginia.  The nest is situated in a solid top crotch, approximately 90 feet up in an isolated loblolly pine.  This breeding territory was discovered in the spring of 1995 when a pair of adult eagles was observed attending a nest on an island in the James River. The pair produced no young during their first year.  A single eaglet was produced in 1996 and the territory has been occupied continuously since that time.

The original nest was abandoned and the pair built this nest in 2001.  The pair has used this nest for more than ten years and since 2001 has produced 18 eaglets, including 2 in 2011.

Moderators will be in the chat room from 8 AM to 8 PM Eastern time  to answer questions and to conduct extensive discussions of North American Bald Eagles.

Here’s the chat room link once again.  I look forward to seeing you there!

Obama’s Gun Exports To Mexico A Booming Business!

"Apparently guns got away again," said one source close to the investigation, led by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Vista) and Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa).  "How many got into Mexico, who knows?"

By Dell Hill

Hat Tip - Insty

Here’s another catchy code name for you to remember - “White Gun”!

The AR-15 - A Favorite Of Drug Cartels The World Around

“In the late summer of 2010, the ATF agent leading the failed Fast and Furious gun-smuggling operation in Arizona flew to Mexico City to help coordinate cross-border investigations of U.S. weapons used by Mexican drug cartels.

Hope A. MacAllister wanted access to police and military vaults for American weapons recovered by Mexican authorities in raids and at crime scenes.  She especially was interested in firearms from another ATF investigation, code-named White Gun, that she was running.

Now members of Congress who have spent months scrutinizing the Fast and Furious debacle are seeking to determine whether White Gun was another weapons investigation gone wrong.

"Apparently guns got away again," said one source close to the investigation, led by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Vista) and Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa).  "How many got into Mexico, who knows?"

Officials from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives declined to comment on whether any firearms were lost in White Gun.  But unlike Fast and Furious, they vigorously defended the previously unreported White Gun operation as a well-managed investigation that produced three arrests and convictions.”

Your Tax Dollars Backing More “Risky" Energy Projects

Your Tax Dollars Backing  More “Risky" Energy Projects

Solyndra Was Only The Beginning

By Dell Hill via CBS News Online

Sharyl Attkisson is rapidly becoming the biggest name in MSM news circles.  And this revealing piece will only enhance her position as the best in the business right now.

(CBS News)
WASHINGTON - Solar panel maker Solyndra received a $528 million Energy Department loan in 2009 - and  went bankrupt last year. The government's risky investment strategy didn't stop there, as a CBS News investigation has uncovered a pattern of cases of the government pouring your tax dollars into clean energy.

Take Beacon Power -- a green energy storage company. We were surprised to learn exactly what the Energy Department knew before committing $43 million of your tax dollars.

Documents obtained by CBS News show Standard and Poor's had confidentially given the project a dismal outlook of "CCC-plus."

Read the documents

Asked whether he'd put his personal money into Beacon, economist Peter Morici replied, "Not on purpose."

"It's, it is a junk bond," Morici said. "But it's not even a good junk bond.  It's well below investment grade."

Was the Energy Department investing tax dollars in something that's not even a good junk bond?  Morici says yes.

"This level of bond has about a 70 percent chance of failing in the long term," he said.

In fact, Beacon did go bankrupt two months ago and it's unclear whether taxpayers will get all their money back.  And the feds made other loans when public documents indicate they should have known they could be throwing good money after bad.

It's been four months since the FBI raided bankrupt Solyndra.  It received a half-billion in tax dollars and became a political lightning rod, with Republicans claiming it was a politically motivated investment.

CBS News counted 12 clean energy companies that are having trouble after collectively being approved for more than $6.5 billion in federal assistance.  Five have filed for bankruptcy: The junk bond-rated Beacon, Evergreen Solar, SpectraWatt, AES' subsidiary Eastern Energy and Solyndra.

Others are also struggling with potential problems. Nevada Geothermal -- a home state project personally endorsed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid --  warns of multiple potential defaults in new SEC filings reviewed by CBS News.  It was already having trouble paying the bills when it received $98.5 million in Energy Department loan guarantees.

SunPower landed a deal linked to a $1.2 billion loan guarantee last fall, after a French oil company took it over.  On its last financial statement, SunPower owed more than it was worth.  SunPower's role is to design, build and initially operate and maintain the California Valley Solar Ranch Project that's the subject of the loan guarantee.

First Solar was the biggest S&P 500 loser in 2011 and its CEO was cut loose - even as taxpayers were forced to back a whopping $3 billion in company loans.”

Allen West Speaks Out On Marine’s Video

Allen West Speaks Out On Marine’s Video

“Unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.” - Congressman Allen West

By Dell Hill

Sometimes the plain truth is just too much for some people to handle.  Such is the case with the current bru-ha-ha over a video depicting US Marines urinating on dead bodies in Afghanistan.

And today’s plain truth comes from Congressmen Allen West (R-Fl), via The Weekly Standard.

Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.), a former Army lieutenant colonel, sends THE WEEKLY STANDARD an email commenting on the Marines' video, and has given us permission to publish it.

“I have sat back and assessed the incident with the video of our Marines urinating on Taliban corpses.  I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers Shugart and Gordon had their bodies dragged through Mogadishu.  Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah.

“All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill.  Does anyone remember the two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq?

“The Marines were wrong.  Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.

“As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.”

Dell’s Bottom Line:

And there was silence within the ranks.

Judge Gives Perry, Gingrich, Santorum & Huntsman The Boot

Judge Gives Perry, Gingrich, Santorum & Huntsman The Boot

"They played the game, they lost, and then they complained about the rules," - Judge John Gibney Jr.

By Dell Hill

A federal judge has ruled that Rick Perry and three other Republican presidential candidates will not be added to Virginia's primary ballot.

District Court Judge John Gibney Jr. rejected their requests, arguing that they filed their challenges to Virginia's stringent ballot requirements too late.

"They played the game, they lost, and then they complained about the rules," he said.

The decision means -- for now, anyway -- that Perry, Rick Santorum, Jon Huntsman and Newt Gingrich will be left off the March 6 ballot after failing to meet a state requirement to collect 10,000 signatures in support of their respective campaigns.

The judge said the campaigns had from July to mid-December to obtain the signatures, and could have challenged the requirement during that period.  "The plaintiffs knew the rules months ago," he said.

Gibney said that if the challenge had been filed earlier, he would have ordered the signature requirement be thrown out.

After the hearing, Perry campaign attorney Joe Nixon said he will need to talk to his client to determine whether to appeal.”

Should Perry & Gingrich Quit Republican Race?

Ace Says ‘No’ - DRH Agrees - Read Why

By Dell Hill

Any shred of conservatism remaining in the Republican presidential primary rests with Texas Governor Rick Perry, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Senator Rick Santorum.  And the degrees of conservatism within that trio varies considerably.

From my perspective, Perry is the only totally conservative candidate left in the race, and despite his very poor showing thus far, he should stay in at least through Florida, for the same reason(s) that Gingrich and Santorum will stay - to give conservative voters at least some voice in the final outcome.

Right now, I don’t believe Perry has even a glimmer of hope to win the nomination, but quitting now only enhances even weaker conservative candidates to assume an even stronger grip on the Republican Party.  If we’re left with just Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich, I’m afraid the conservative brand will take a beating for another four years, no matter who wins the presidency.

But....But....What about Ron Paul?

I find myself in total agreement with Ace on this Ron Paul character.

“Perry Passes Santorum In South Carolina; Newt Still Leads The Anti-Romneys By A Wide Margin

“Actually Perry only has nine percent to Santorum's seven percent, and Gingrich has a nice 25%, but I wanted to put this out there for the various people calling on Gingrich and Perry to quit the race in favor of Santorum.

Paul has climbed 11 percent in the last week and Perry has gained seven percent.  Santorum, who was tied for second in last week’s poll at 24 percent, plummeted into fifth place in the current poll.

Oh, and Paul's at 20%, but I don't count that.  Here's the reason I don't count that: Paul and his supporters wish the Republican Party to completely reverse its foreign/defense policy -- going from interventionist and hawkish to pacifist and strictly dovish, with Defense budgets slashed to ribbons to make up for the budget deficit -- without actually convincing anyone on this issue.

The pitch is that Paul will cut government spending.  Golf clap. We'd all like to see that.  We're all convinced on that point.

But what we're not convinced of is that we should reduce Defense to the coast guard and a nuclear bomber wing and trust that the rest of the world will be nice to us if we are nonthreatening.

You cannot bootstrap a change that great without actually convincing the party that such a change is good and wise.  But that seems to be the Paul strategy, run on the one thing people are convinced of (shrinking government) but then implementing the thing that people aren't convinced of (adopting a doctrinaire pacifist policy with virtually no power projection at all, because, see, we don't need that anymore).

I have used this analogy of putting up a strongly pro-choice candidate who talked very strongly about cutting government.

Would such a candidate win?  Should such a candidate win, without even bothering with that little step of persuading the party that abortion is a right?

Of course not.  And nor can the conservative position on defense be changed so radically without any actual agreement to do so.  But that's what Paul has in mind.

Oh, and foreign policy and defense are uniquely within the president's exclusive power, unlike most other areas.  The president has not just a first-among-equals status here, but a nearly preeminent position in this area-- the Constitution specifically calls him out as chief foreign relations officer, and of course commander in chief.”

The Man Belongs In Prison For Spewing False Reports

By Dell Hill

Hat Tip - Jim Hoft @ Gateway Pundit

Ridiculous predictions - especially those predictions that strike fear into the hearts of men - should be classified as criminal acts, just the same way calling 9-1-1 to report a “massive explosion and fire” that didn’t happen results in criminal charges for “false report”.

One man has been getting away with filing such “false reports” for several years.  His name is Al Gore and he’s a bald-faced liar, bent on repeating his false claims in order to make millions of dollars selling books, movie rights, making speeches and trying to sell worthless carbon credits in a manner best described as snake oil salesmanship.

The entire world has now caught on.  But, it took several years for predictions such as this to be proven totally false.

Now for a little reality via Small Dead Animals

Jan. 6, 2012: The Coast Guard Cutter Healy breaks ice around the Russian-flagged tanker Renda 250 miles south of Nome.  The Healy is the Coast Guard’s only currently operating polar icebreaker.  The vessels are transiting through ice up to five-feet thick in this area.

The 370-foot tanker Renda will have to go through more than 300 miles of sea ice to get to Nome, a city of about 3,500 people on the western Alaska coastline that did not get its last pre-winter fuel delivery because of a massive storm. (FOX News)

Dell’s Bottom Line:

Isn’t it about time that the junk science, peddled by snake oil salesman like Al Gore, be called to account for their false reports?

The entire world has been enthralled - taken in, as it were - by Gore’s predictions of the ice melting and the oceans rising until New York City is under four feet of salt water and sharks are swimming up 5th Avenue.

Conservation and efforts to be considerate of mother Earth are worthy endeavors.  Some of those efforts certainly benefit all of mankind.  But, when we resort to outright lies, deception and false reporting of “scientific facts” where no real science exists, a crime is being committed.  That’s exactly what people like Al Gore are doing and should the time ever come when creditable science indicates an immediate need for human action, many will recall Al Gore’s stream of falsehoods and ignore a real problem.  Then, and only then, will we understand just how serious a crime it is to lie to the world for personal fame and fortune.

Do Nothing Senate Democrats - ‘Led’ By Harry Reid - Major Fail

Do Nothing Senate Democrats - ‘Led’ By Harry Reid - Major Fail

Over 20 House Passed, Jobs Creating Bills Will Never Be Considered In Reid’s Senate

By Dell Hill

Recently we heard Debbie Whatshername Schultz, head of the Democrat National Committee, bloviating about the “do nothing Republicans in congress” as being the primary reason why President Barack H. Obama hasn’t been able to lead the country out of it’s financial woes.  It took all of about four minutes for Doug Ross to come up with the actual reasons.

Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid (D-Nv)
100% Responsible For ‘Do Nothing’ Congress

Here they are, by the numbers:

• 0: Number of Senate votes taken on the massive Democrat spending package crafted last year in place of an actual budget.

You saw no votes because there was never any real budget proposed, and the reason it wasn’t proposed is the bottom line.  Obama, Senate Boss, Harry Reid and House minority leader, Nancy Pelosi simply did NOT want you to see just exactly how many trillion dollars in spending they proposed.  Had you seen that number, the roof would have come off the Capitol dome.

• 0: Number of votes the President’s FY 2012 budget received in the Senate.

• 0: Senate Budget Committee budget mark-ups scheduled last year.

• 3: Number of years the deficit has topped $1 Trillion.

• 3: Number of years total government spending has exceeded $3 Trillion.

• 34: number of months unemployment has been above 8 percent, the jobless rate the “stimulus” was supposed to prevent.

• 1.4 million: number of jobs killed by President Obama

The Obama administration highly touts it’s “jobs saved or created” numbers, but almost always fails to mention the jobs destroyed and lost forever by overbearing federal regulations, not to mention presidential orders, which have not only stifled economic growth, they’ve killed it dead.

• $16.4 Trillion: amount of debt held by the nation after three years of the Obama-Pelosi-Reid spending binge.

We’ve also been treated to two consecutive “Recovery Summers”, neither of which showed any indication of recovery.  Maybe the summer of 2012 will be different.  NOT.

As Doug writes; “When President Obama blames a "do nothing" Congress, perhaps he should lean over and wink at Harry Reid, who has intentionally avoided passage of a budget for three consecutive years, an act of fiscal irresponsibility without parallel in modern American history.”

Dell’s Bottom Line:

With the adjournment of the current congressional session, over twenty House passed pieces of legislation - most centered around job creation for desperate American families - will die right where they sit - on Harry Reid’s desk.

Never, ever let anyone tell you that the Republicans in congress refused to do the job they were elected to do.  House Republicans acted boldly, as did Senate Republicans.  It was Harry Reid and the Democrat controlled United States Senate that failed their own President.  Make absolutely no mistake about it.

PS:  The President is scheduled to give his State of the Union Address on January 24th - exactly 1,000 days since the passage of the last Constitutionally mandated  federal budget.  During two of those three congressional sessions, Democrats held total control of the White House, House of Representatives and United States Senate.  They could have easily passed any budget the President presented.  But, they didn’t, and we know why.
