MSNBC host Donny Deutch said that he is "repulsed" by the Tea Party, that he believes that we need a "Kent State Moment" so that Occupy Wall Street resonates with the American people.

It boggles the mind to think that anyone could come up with such an incredibly stupid analogy as the shootings at Kent State University as a necessary, or “defining moment” for the occupy (insert anything here) protest, but that exactly what you heard if you watched Morning Joe on PMSNBC.



Yes, he tries valiantly to discourage shootings and death, but what kind of analytical mind comes up with such foolishness; such shear stupidity in the first place?

For those of you too young to remember, on May 4, 1970, Ohio National Guard troops shot and killed four Kent State University students who were protesting the Vietnam war.  An incredibly tragic day in American history.

And this is the kind of thing the occupy protest needs?  I don’t think so.

How much would you guess the “occupy” protesters have cost the various cities around the country?  A couple of hundred thousand? Half a million?  More than that?

How about well over $6 Million....and counting?

Law enforcement overtime costs alone are - and continue to be - a staggering high percentage of what it will cost to babysit a few thousand malcontents.

Michelle Malkin’s latest posting will give you a general idea of the cost TO TAXPAYERS for this “picnic in the parks”.

“In New York City, government officials estimate the month-long siege of Zuccotti Park has now imposed $3.2 million in overtime police costs on the public. On Thursday, as Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s office pressured left-wing activists to vacate the park for cleaning, Occupy Wall Street urged sympathizers to flood the city’s customer services lines: “Call 311 and tell Bloomberg not to evict us!”

In Philadelphia, Mayor Michael Nutter told the press that demonstrators outside city hall have incurred $164,000 in overtime public employee costs and $237,000 in regular time. “At the current rate, if Occupy Philly continues to the end of the month, the city would spend another nearly $690,000 on police overtime alone,” the local NBC affiliate reported. “Besides the extra police presence being dedicated to the Occupy Philly protests, other city departments have also incurred costs.”

In Seattle, police have so far billed $30,000 in overtime and the parks department racked up nearly $4,000 in additional costs related to the protests there. Occupiers have blocked traffic, assaulted an officer, and pitched illegal tents. Merchants in the area have been hurt as the riff-raff deter customers. One business owner in Westlake Park, where hundreds of protesters remain camped out, told Seattle TV station KIRO: “There’s definitely fewer people you can identify as people out, just walking through the area.”

Seattle’s pushover mayor, Democrat Mike McGinn, now faces even greater demands from the insatiable mob – which wants a “guaranteed parking space near City Hall Plaza that allows for around-the-clock parking,” “24-hour access to the first floor of City Hall for restroom access, and a written statement from the mayor approving the protesters’ long-term occupancy of City Hall Plaza.”

In Boston, City Council President Steve Murphy anticipates a $2 million hit to taxpayers if the protests refuse to disband by the end of October. The local Fox affiliate notes the tab represents 8% of the yearly budget for police overtime. “While we’re all sympathetic with
our protesters down there,” Murphy said, “Wall Street isn’t picking up the tab on this thing. It’s the Boston taxpayers.”

Take note of the fact that this list only includes the really big cities; there are “occupy” protests going on all over the country and in each and every case, the cost will add up.

How long will the tax payers stand for this?

Quite frankly, I’m amazed they’ve let it go on this long.

California Schools Facing $1.7 Billion In Cuts

The folks in California are discovering that they have a problem with finances.

Tax revenues missed their projected goal by a scant $705 million dollars in the first quarter of the fiscal year and that means a built-in budget cut to California schools in the neighborhood of $1.7 Billion (Billion, with a “B”) dollars.

Here’s our report from SFGate, the home of the San Francisco Chronicle.

“Public schools in California, which already spend less per student than those in 28 states, are bracing for a $1.7 billion cut that may wipe out high-school sports and student busing, and trim the academic calendar by seven days next year.

Automatic cuts built into this year's budget, intended to protect bondholders if revenue falls short of projections, are drawing new attention after California fell $705 million behind estimates in the first quarter.

A shortfall of $1 billion will slash hundreds of millions of dollars from universities and care of the elderly and disabled. A deficit of $2 billion will trigger reductions to public schools, creating "a fiscal emergency" that could leave some districts insolvent, a group of superintendents told Governor Jerry Brown in a Sept. 15 letter.

"We're certainly really, really close to the first round of trigger cuts and inching closer to ours," said Debra Brown, lobbyist for the California School Boards Association, referring to the second round of cuts concentrated on schools. "It is a little troubling."

A “..little troubling”?  Really?

Doug Ross@Journal points out a potential area where Californians might have saved a couple of education dollars.

As I’m sure you all know by now; Governor Moonbeam signed the California “Dream Act” legislation, which makes illegal aliens eligible for free or drastically reduced cost college educations.  And Doug wonders:

Even though illegal aliens cost the state's taxpayers at least $10.4 billion a year, Governor Brown wants to subsidize illegal behavior and encourage more of it. All while kids are forced to go without an ever-increasing number of school days.

Which leads to my definitive conclusion that Democrats are disorganized schizophrenics.

And painfully stupid to boot.

Well, there you have it.  A $1.7 billion dollar cut to schools on the one hand and a $10.4 billion dollars gift from the state’s tax payers to illegal immigrants on the other.

This week’s big event in auto racing is the “Bank of America 500” Sprint Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

For the past five years this race has had a posted purse of over $5 Million dollars.

The primary sponsor for every NASCAR event is responsible for a huge percentage of that posted purse.

If Bank of America has that kind of money to sponsor a major race on the NASCAR circuit, why do I now have to pay them $5 every month just to have a debit card?

Just when you thought it might be safe to rejoice over the young, dynamic Conservative voices leading the TEA Party charge, something happens to throw cold water on the Republican party.  The most recent ten-gallon pail is the result of an investigation by Robert Stacy McCain - TheOtherMcCain - who filed this exclusive report on Thursday.

“When Florida defied Republican National Committee rules to move the state’s 2012 presidential primary from an RNC-approved March date to Jan. 31, conservatives immediately suspected that state party insiders had orchestrated the move to help former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney thwart the momentum of Tea Party-backed candidate Herman Cain. Some Florida activists focused their suspicion on moderates in state party leadership – allies of Senate candidate George LeMieux and of former Gov. Charlie Crist — as orchestrating the change in the primary date.  The move was seen as helping the centrist Romney, whose superior fund-raising resources would enable him to score an early knockout in the Sunshine State before Cain could fully leverage the boost he got from an upset victory in a Sept. 24 Florida GOP straw poll.

Yet while the moderate Republican faction in Tallahassee was immediately blamed for the primary date-switch, only insiders knew that a key factor was a push from inside the staff of the Tea Party’s own 2010 hero, Sen. Marco Rubio.  GOP sources in Washington and Florida say that Rubio’s senatorial chief of staff, Cesar Conda, has been a major force in persuading Florida Republicans to move their primary to January.”

As is usually the case, this story gets a little complicated, but if you read the rest of Stacy’s exclusive report, you’ll readily see why this move may NOT have been in Marco Rubio’s best political interests.

As of this writing, there’s no statement from the Rubio camp concerning this report.  However, if Marco Rubio doesn’t come up with a believable denial, several million TEA Party supporters - who strongly oppose Mitt Romney as just another RINO - will be extremely displeased.

With her announcement that she will not be seeking the presidential nomination in 2012, Sarah Palin drifted off into the sunset, never to be seen nor heard from again.  NOT!

Mrs. Palin is still an extremely popular Conservative and will draw huge crowds wherever she goes.  Many were heartbroken with her announcement and her legions are numbered in the millions.  That’s an extraordinary amount of political clout.
