Mayor Calls For Budget Cuts To Offset Millions In Occupy LA Costs

Mayor Calls For Budget Cuts To Offset Millions In Occupy LA Costs

When That Doesn’t Work - Tax Increases Will

By Dell Hill

Time to pay the piper?

Yes, yes it is, and Los Angeles is now facing the reality of what the Occupy protest movement actually cost the taxpayers.

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The City of Los Angeles reportedly faces millions of dollars in expenses brought about by the Occupy LA movement.

City agencies have been ordered to calculate what was spent on the Occupy LA protests.

Repairs to City Hall’s lawn where the Occupy group set up camp on Oct. 1 will require an estimated $400,000.  The police action to clear out the encampment on Nov. 30 cost more than $700,000.

Additional expenses are attributed to hauling away debris from the camp, and cleaning up graffiti that defaced City Hall marble walls and trees.

Mayor Villaraigosa says more budget cuts will be necessary to offset the costs.”

Dell’s Bottom Line:  From ‘day one’ the occupy protest was nothing more than a huge criminal act that was allowed to happen based on First Amendment Constitutional Rights.  Any individual who did exactly the same thing would have been arrested on the spot, charged accordingly and, upon conviction, ordered to pay restitution.

But that won’t happen...Not in L.A. or anywhere else, because the seated government actually supported the illegal activity.  Now, even those who vehemently opposed that illegal activity will be called upon to pay for the damages.

Is this a great country, or what??
